V Shem-Wee Kiong vow to bounce back
WORLD No 1 Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong are determined to bounce back at the India Open on March 28-April 2 after crashing out of the All England on Friday.
The Malaysian men’s doubles were not at their best in Birmingham, losing 21-19, 17-21, 21-19 to China’s Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen in the quarter-finals.
V Shem said: “I admit I could not give my best and was very slow on court.
“My condition at the All England has definitely been below par. I just hope my (right) ankle injury will recover in time before the India Open.”
V Shem picked up the injury prior to the National Championships in Ulu Kinta last month, where he was supposed to partner Teo Ee Yi. Apart from the India Open in New Delhi, V Shem-Wee Kiong will compete in the Malaysia Open (April 4-9) and Singapore Open (April 11-16).
