New Straits Times - - News - Bernama

The Defence Ministry will announce a new pension scheme for armed forces veterans soon, said Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

He said the scheme was among the ministry’s efforts to solve problems faced by veterans who were not on the pension scheme.

“We have to get the approval from the prime minister.

“We proposed this to Datuk Seri Najib Razak recently and his expression indicated that he agreed with the proposal.”

Hishammuddin was speaking at the “Jasamu Dikenang” event after presenting medals to military veterans here yesterday.

Present was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.

At the event, 114 veterans who served during the communist resistance, which ended in 1989, were honoured for their sacrifice and service.
