Jaze­man happy to join McLaren GT Driver Academy

FOR­MER AMG Mercedes driver Jaze­man Jaa­far will turn out for Strakka Rac­ing this year and has also been signed up for the McLaren GT Driver Academy.

Jaze­man is in his sec­ond sea­son of sportscar rac­ing af­ter fin­ish­ing sec­ond in the Blanc­pain En­durance Se­ries rac­ing for HTP Mo­tor­sport in the first year.

“I’m proud to have inked this deal with McLaren GT and have a place in the Driv­ers Academy,” he said.

“It has been my am­bi­tion to be part of a fac­tory pro­gramme and join­ing McLaren GT is a real priv ilege for me.”

The two-day Blanc­pain GT Se­ries will be Jaze­man’s sec­ond out­ing in the McLaren 650S GT3, with the first be­ing late last year in a test ses­sion in Va­len­cia.

Strakka Rac­ing, who pre­vi­ously com­peted in Le Mans and in the World En­durance Cham­pi­onship, will be mak­ing their de­but.

In its fourth sea­son, the Blanc­pain GT Se­ries will start on April 2 in Misano and end on Oct 31 in Barcelona. There will be five En­durance Cup rounds and five Sprint Cup rounds. Farah Azharie
