Driver to be charged with drug-related offence today
GEORGE TOWN: The 19-year-old woman, whose act of driving against traffic along the NorthSouth Expressway on Tuesday claimed a life, will be charged at the magistrate’s court in Bukit Mertajam today for a drug-related offence.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said she would be charged under Section 15(1) of the Dan- gerous Drug Act for administering drugs into the body.
Police confirmed on Wednesday that Ng Pei Ven’s urine tested positive for amphetamine. They had also established that she was “hallucinating” at the time of the incident.
Nik Ros Azhan said investigations into the case had been completed and had been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office yesterday morning.
