San­tokh tro­phy up for grabs

THE ac­tion is ex­pected to be hot at the 5th Sport­sUnite Samba Bola Un­der-12 Unity Foot­ball Car­ni­val for the Datuk San­tokh Singh tro­phy.

To be held at the Sec­tion 7 ground in Kota Da­mansara, the 7a-side event is lim­ited to 32 teams.

Teams will be com­pet­ing for the tro­phy named af­ter one of Malaysia’s foot­ball leg­ends San­tokh, who will be at the March 26 car­ni­val.

“I am very happy with the good re­sponse each year. I be­lieve this event is very im­por­tant for two things.

“It pro­motes unity and gives chil­dren an op­por­tu­nity to play in a com­pet­i­tive en­vi­ron­ment,” said San­tokh, one of Asia’s best de­fend­ers in his hey­days.

Teams in­ter­ested in com­pet­ing should con­tact Kota Da­mansara Foot­ball Club pres­i­dent Norizan Jo­har at 014-2299526.

Teams must con­sists of play­ers from a min­i­mum of two races and the car­ni­val is or­gan­ised by Sport­sUnite Sports Club in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Kota Da­mansara Foot­ball Club.

It is jointly spon­sored by the Na­tional Sports Coun­cil, Re­vive Iso­tonic Drinks, Milo, Fi­gos and the Pe­tal­ing Jaya City Coun­cil.
