Malaysia, Qatar to boost info ex­change

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will en­hance its in­tel­li­gence-shar­ing with Qatar to com­bat threats of ter­ror­ism.

De­fence Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Hisham­mud­din Hus­sein said both coun­tries had ex­pressed con­cerns over the threat of ter­ror­ism, par­tic­u­larly from the Is­lamic State.

“To com­bat the threats our coun­tries are fac­ing, we will increase the shar­ing of mil­i­tary in­tel­li­gence in­for­ma­tion,” Hisham­mud­din said yes­ter­day after sign­ing a let­ter of in­tent (LOI) with Qatar State for De­fence Min­is­ter Dr Khalid Mo­hamed Al-Atiyyah.

The LOI called for both na­tions to con­tinue the joint co­op­er­a­tion be­tween their armed forces in training and ex­er­cises, ex­change of mil­i­tary per­son­nel and study
