Umno info chief says DAP stalwart is a dictator and racist

UMNO information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he is prepared to be sued for labelling DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang a racist and a dictator.

“I called him (Lim) a racist based on a few facts and previous speeches by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. I am not afraid and am ready to be charged (for that).”

Speaking after officiating the Bagan Serai assemblies for Umno’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abu Bakar al-Baqir, Sungai Gedong here yesterday, he said Dr Mahathir had on numerous occasions in the past labelled Lim as the No. 1 racist in Malaysia, including during the last general election in 2013.

Annuar said based on his observation on Lim’s actions and speeches in Parliament, the latter had opposed the implementation of Islamic laws and amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 to empower the Syariah Court.

“The Federal Constitution has allowed the Syariah Court to function as a judicial system and the proposed amendments were to update the existing one.

“I found that opposing the Islamic laws for Muslims especially those related to the Syariah Court shows Lim is anti-Islam.”

He said Lim’s conduct was against Article 3 of the Federal Constitution, which stated that Islam was the official religion of country.

Annuar admitted calling the Gelang Patah member of parliament a dictator, as Lim has been the leader of DAP for more than 50 years.
