Man who cheats 50 nabbed

GE­ORGE TOWN: Af­ter seven years of im­per­son­at­ing a high­rank­ing civil ser­vant and rak­ing in RM800,000 by cheat­ing 50 peo­ple, a con man’s game fi­nally ended.

The 49-year-old sus­pect was nabbed at a ho­tel in Se­berang Prai yes­ter­day.

South­west district po­lice chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Anuar Omar said, “He had im­per­son­ated a Road Trans­port Depart­ment of­fi­cer who wanted to sell mo­tor­cy­cles and cars.

“The sus­pect had also im­per­son­ated a Tabung Haji ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer, of­fer­ing lu­cra­tive deals to his vic­tims to per­form pil­grim­age.”
