Best juniors for Penang meet
THE Penang BA are all set to host the first leg of the Celcom Axiata National Under-21 Championships at the PBA Hall in George Town.
Leading the pack in the five-day championships which start on Saturday is the newly crowned national women’s champion Tinaah Muralitharan, who is seeded second in the girls’ singles. Kisona Selvaduray is the top seed.
Organising committee chairman Kah Kau Kiak said the event carries a total cash prize of RM21,800. The competition has attracted 258 players.
Penang have the largest contingent with 40 players while Selangor and the BA of Malaysia have each 32 players.
The boys’ singles has 129 players, while the boys’ doubles, girls’ singles and doubles, and the mixed doubles consist of 64 pairs, 53 players, 21 pairs and 31 pairs respectively.
The championships consist of two legs with the second event to be held in Pahang in October. K. Kandiah
