SHARES on Bursa Malaysia ended the day higher on gains in se­lect heavy­weights.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 4.21 points to close at 1,749.41 from 1,745.2 last Fri­day.

The in­dex moved be­tween 1,744.07 and 1,755.26 through­out the day, af­ter open­ing 1.13 points weaker at 1,744.07 this morn­ing.

Gain­ers out­paced losers 546 to 421, with 356 coun­ters flat, 388 un­traded and 16 sus­pended.

Vol­ume rose to 6.01 bil­lion units worth RM3.01 bil­lion from 4.98 bil­lion units worth RM5.04 bil­lion pre­vi­ously.

Among heavy­weights Petronas Chem­i­cals ap­pre­ci­ated two sen to RM7.45, IHH Health­care added five sen to RM6.03 and Maxis gained three sen to RM5.08.

Of the ac­tives, PUC Founder rose four sen to 15.5 sen, Olympia In­dus­tries gained 5.5 sen to 19 sen and Dat­aprep in­creased 11.5 sen to 55 sen. Ber­nama
