Two KL restaurants, budget hotel razed
KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out at several shops at the city’s Golden Triangle in Jalan Berangan near Bukit Bintang here yesterday afternoon.
Two eateries, Restaurant Albasatna Treasure and Restaurant Vietnam, as well as Naka budget hotel, were razed to the ground in the 1.40pm blaze. No casualties were reported. Thick smoke could been seen coming from the burning premises, covering several blocks in Bukit Bintang and surrounding high-rise buildings, in pictures that went viral.
City Fire and Rescue Department chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said 24 firemen from several stations were dispatched to the scene.
“We received a distress call at 1.46pm and arrived at the scene 13 minutes later.
“The blaze was brought under control at 2.25pm and put out at 3.13pm.
“Our forensic team will investigate to find the cause of the fire.”
Firemen were seen walking through the charred remains of the premises, as distressed hotel staff, guests, tourists and shoppers looked on.
