Two KL restau­rants, bud­get ho­tel razed

KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out at sev­eral shops at the city’s Golden Tri­an­gle in Jalan Beran­gan near Bukit Bin­tang here yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

Two eater­ies, Restau­rant Al­basatna Trea­sure and Restau­rant Viet­nam, as well as Naka bud­get ho­tel, were razed to the ground in the 1.40pm blaze. No ca­su­al­ties were re­ported. Thick smoke could been seen com­ing from the burn­ing premises, cov­er­ing sev­eral blocks in Bukit Bin­tang and sur­round­ing high-rise build­ings, in pic­tures that went vi­ral.

City Fire and Res­cue Depart­ment chief op­er­a­tions of­fi­cer Sam­sol Maarif Saibani said 24 fire­men from sev­eral sta­tions were dis­patched to the scene.

“We re­ceived a dis­tress call at 1.46pm and ar­rived at the scene 13 min­utes later.

“The blaze was brought un­der con­trol at 2.25pm and put out at 3.13pm.

“Our foren­sic team will in­ves­ti­gate to find the cause of the fire.”

Fire­men were seen walk­ing through the charred re­mains of the premises, as distressed ho­tel staff, guests, tourists and shop­pers looked on.
