Datuk Seri, 11 others, claim trial to rioting

These words were heard in the magistrate’s court here yesterday as 12 individuals, including a Datuk Seri, were led away in handcuffs from the courtroom after they were charged with rioting.
Earlier, the 12 pleaded not guilty when they were jointly charged before magistrate Mohamed Amin Shahul Hamid with rioting, together with several others still at large.
Ban Chuan, 46, Datuk Seri Loh Peng Kok, 35, Ng Hao Ning, 29, Muhamad Naim Abdull Rahman, 18, J. Shatheeswaran, 24, N. Kartiga, 26, Curtis Veeran, 19, Tan Teong Boon, 24, Teoh Chee Seng, 36, Siow Peir Sheng, 24, Teoh Kim Teik, 20, and Tan Kai Chong, 21, nodded when asked if they understood the charge before having their plea recorded.
They were alleged to have committed the offence in Room E3 of the Sun City KTV Midlands entertainment outlet in Jalan Burma here about 3.58am on March 18.
