In­dus­try cap­tains to share how they over­came ad­ver­sity

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s trans­for­ma­tion into a high-income econ­omy will gain trac­tion to­day with the open­ing of the Global Trans­for­ma­tion Fo­rum (GTF) 2017 by Prime Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Na­jib Razak.

He will de­liver the key­note ad­dress at the two-day fo­rum ti­tled “The World Needs Trans­for­ma­tion” at the Kuala Lumpur Con­ven­tion Cen­tre, here.

The fo­rum will see home­grown in­dus­try cap­tains and global who’s who re­veal­ing how they over­came ad­ver­sity by set­ting seem­ingly im­pos­si­ble tar­gets, hav­ing a clear end-game and in­still­ing the dis­ci­pline of ac­tion.

Per­modalan Na­sional Bhd group chair­man Tan Sri Ab­dul Wahid Omar will give a talk on “Na­tional Trans­for­ma­tion: Prob­lems, Per­spec­tives and Path­ways” in a panel dis­cus­sion.

He will be joined by De­liv­ery As­so­ciates manag­ing part­ner Sir Michael Bar­ber and Am­ref Health Africa In­ter­na­tional chair­man Omari Issa.

The dis­cus­sion will be mod­er­ated by Khaz­anah Re­search In­sti­tute manag­ing di­rec­tor Datuk Charon Mokhzani.

In the af­ter­noon, Per­for­mance Man­age­ment and De­liv­ery Unit chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Datuk Idris Jala will speak about “Trans­for­ma­tional Road Less Trav­elled”.

Cor­po­rate su­per­star Sir Richard Bran­son, the founder and chair­man of Vir­gin Group, will talk about busi­ness trans­for­ma­tion and lead­er­ship, mod­er­ated by CNN busi­ness news an­chor Richard Quest.

The se­cond day will feature talks by Olympic cham­pion Usain Bolt on “Light­ing Bolt Trans­for­ma­tion: The Usain Bolt Code”.

Alibaba Group ex­ec­u­tive chair­man and philanthropist Jack Ma will be shar­ing about “Ali Baba Trans­for­ma­tion: The Jack Ma Way”.

GTF is the world’s sin­gu­lar plat­form for in­flu­en­tial, global lead­ers to en­gage and share ex­pe­ri­ences and best prac­tices on how to drive trans­for­ma­tion.
