Ex-leukaemia girl seeks funds to treat hepatitis
KOTA BARU: The family of an exleukemia patient is seeking donations from the public for the treatment of the 10 year old who is now suffering from Hepatitis C.
Nurhasmimie Abdul Hamid from Kampung Enggong in Kuala Krai has been leukaemia-free for a year, but she was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in December.
Her mother, Ramlah Md Said, said Nurhasmimie needed RM50,000 for her treatment at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian here.
“We have so far collected RM35,000, with RM15,000 coming from a TV3 fund.”
Ramlah said her husband, Abdul Hamid Abdullah, was a rubber tapper with a monthly income of RM500 and the family could not afford the treatment.
She said Nurhasmimie, a Year 3 pupil at SK Sungai Embak, was an active girl before she was diagnosed with leukaemia.
“Since she is now leukaemiafree, we hope the treatment will make her cheerful and active again,” said Ramlah.
All cheques should be made payable to Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund, with the patient’s name written on the back of the cheque and addressed to Media Prima Berhad, Group Corporate Communications Department, Level 1 Anjung Riong, Balai Berita, 31, Jalan Riong, 59100 Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
