Kuala Lumpur end up top guns

KUALA Lumpur emerged as over­all vic­tors at the Malaysian Schools Sports Coun­cil (MSSM) rhyth­mic gym­nas­tics cham­pi­onships with 13 gold, nine sil­ver and seven bronze medals.

Se­lan­gor came in sec­ond with eight gold, 12 sil­ver and six bronze while Malacca fin­ished third with two bronze at the five day-event that con­cluded in Bukit Jalil yes­ter­day.

In the Un­der-18 se­nior cat­e­gory that fea­tured two ap­pa­ra­tus, three balls and two ropes, Se­lan­gor edged Kuala Lumpur by a margin of 2.34 for a com­bined to­tal of 24.820 as Sabah took third at 14.150.

The Un­der-15 ju­nior cat­e­gory saw Kuala Lumpur snatch­ing the gold by a nar­row 0.134 from clos­est ri­vals, Se­lan­gor, at 24.133.

Sabah fin­ished the first phase with a score of 7.533 and 8.016 on the fi­nals for a com­bined to­tal of 15.550 in third.

The Kuala Lumpur pre-ju­nior team awed the crowd with their five-hoop per­for­mance to tally a score of 25.266 to take home the gold medal while Se­lan­gor and Sarawak came in sec­ond and third, re­spec­tively. Farah Azharie
