Kuala Lumpur end up top guns
KUALA Lumpur emerged as overall victors at the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) rhythmic gymnastics championships with 13 gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals.
Selangor came in second with eight gold, 12 silver and six bronze while Malacca finished third with two bronze at the five day-event that concluded in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
In the Under-18 senior category that featured two apparatus, three balls and two ropes, Selangor edged Kuala Lumpur by a margin of 2.34 for a combined total of 24.820 as Sabah took third at 14.150.
The Under-15 junior category saw Kuala Lumpur snatching the gold by a narrow 0.134 from closest rivals, Selangor, at 24.133.
Sabah finished the first phase with a score of 7.533 and 8.016 on the finals for a combined total of 15.550 in third.
The Kuala Lumpur pre-junior team awed the crowd with their five-hoop performance to tally a score of 25.266 to take home the gold medal while Selangor and Sarawak came in second and third, respectively. Farah Azharie
