China firm seals A$6b mine deal

SYDNEY: A Chinese builder sealed a deal yesterday to build a A$6 billion (RM20.36 billion) mining infrastructure project to tap resource-rich northwestern Australia. BBI Group (BBIG) said the agreement with the China State Construction Engineering Corp to develop the mine, port and rail project would create a new gateway to the Pilbara region for iron ore exporters. Some 3,300 jobs were expected to be created during the construction period, said BBI, with 900 permanent positions on offer when the facilities were operational. Agencies
