China firm seals A$6b mine deal

SYD­NEY: A Chi­nese builder sealed a deal yes­ter­day to build a A$6 bil­lion (RM20.36 bil­lion) min­ing in­fra­struc­ture project to tap re­source-rich north­west­ern Aus­tralia. BBI Group (BBIG) said the agree­ment with the China State Con­struc­tion Engi­neer­ing Corp to de­velop the mine, port and rail project would cre­ate a new gate­way to the Pil­bara re­gion for iron ore ex­porters. Some 3,300 jobs were ex­pected to be cre­ated dur­ing the con­struc­tion pe­riod, said BBI, with 900 per­ma­nent po­si­tions on of­fer when the fa­cil­i­ties were op­er­a­tional. Agen­cies
