2 sailors to meet families today
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to hand two Malaysian sailors, who were kidnapped along with three others in Lahad Datu waters eight months ago, to their families today.
The reunion is expected to be held at Najib’s residence in Taman Duta here at 7.30am.
Tayudin and Abdul Rahim were rescued by Philippine marines last Thursday off Pata Island in southern Sulu province.
The rescue came following a tip-off from villagers on the presence of 30 Abu Sayyaf fighters and at least five hostages.
Last July, the two and three other Malaysians were reported missing after their tugboat was found abandoned in Den Haven off Lahad Datu waters.
Fandy Bakran, 27, Mohd Jumadil Rahim, 24, and Mohd Ridzuan Ismail, 33, are still being held by the Abu Sayyaf kidnappers.
