2 sailors to meet fam­i­lies to­day

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Na­jib Razak is ex­pected to hand two Malaysian sailors, who were kid­napped along with three oth­ers in La­had Datu wa­ters eight months ago, to their fam­i­lies to­day.

The re­union is ex­pected to be held at Na­jib’s res­i­dence in Ta­man Duta here at 7.30am.

Tayudin and Ab­dul Rahim were res­cued by Philip­pine marines last Thurs­day off Pata Is­land in south­ern Sulu prov­ince.

The res­cue came fol­low­ing a tip-off from vil­lagers on the pres­ence of 30 Abu Sayyaf fight­ers and at least five hostages.

Last July, the two and three other Malaysians were re­ported miss­ing after their tug­boat was found aban­doned in Den Haven off La­had Datu wa­ters.

Fandy Bakran, 27, Mohd Ju­madil Rahim, 24, and Mohd Ridzuan Is­mail, 33, are still be­ing held by the Abu Sayyaf kid­nap­pers.
