“That’s why they can’t think what kind of defence I’m going to present. They are scared because they don’t know how to argue.
“For me, berani kerana benar, takut kerana salah (be brave if you’re right, you will be scared if you’re wrong),” he said citing a Malay proverb.
The debate was originally scheduled for last Saturday when Dr Mahathir visited Nazri’s parliamentary constituency of Padang Rengas in Perak. The police, however, rejected an application for a permit to hold the event.
The idea arose after Dr Mahathir, who is chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, challenged Nazri to a debate on political and economic issues.
Dr Mahathir cited topics such as 1Malaysia Development Bhd and the Bumiputra Malaysia Finance scandal.
Local daily Sinar Harian as the organiser, has proposed to hold the debate in Shah Alam on April 7.
