‘DAP will get verification of Muhyiddin’s statement’

New Straits Times - - News -

GEORGE TOWN: DAP will get verification before commenting on reports that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had proposed that a Malay-based party should take charge of Pakatan Harapan.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng yesterday said he would seek verification first before commenting on news reports on the matter as some reports could be inaccurate.

Muhyiddin had reportedly said this during a ceramah (talk) in Kota Kiri, Padang Rengas in Perak on Saturday night.

The Penang chief minister said Pakatan Harapan had just had a meeting last week, and had, in a joint statement signed by leaders of DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN), agreed to accept PPBM as a new component member.

“Since then, we have not had any meetings yet. I need to verify if the news reports are true or not.

“After all, they (PPBM) had just been accepted. We need to verify that the reports were true and not Barisan Nasional-media’s game to pit us against one another,” he said when asked to comment on the matter.

Lim stressed that Pakatan Harapan’s leader is Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and there has been no change to that.

“What had been decided previously stays,” he added.
