‘Apologise over hudud ceramah’

New Straits Times - - News -

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan secretary-general Datuk Liang Teck Meng urged DAP National Organising Secretary Anthony Loke Siew Fok to apologise to all Malaysians after a video of him giving a ceramah (talk) had gone viral.

In a statement, Liang said the ceramah was given by Loke prior to the 13th General Election (GE13).

“He was telling the audience not to fear hudud punishments of ‘cutting off hands and legs’ if they did not steal or rob. He had also said that if you do not fear the current capital punishment of death by hanging, then there is no need to fear having your hands and legs cut off,” said Liang.

Loke admitted to an online media portal that the video was genuine and he had told the Chinese community not to be afraid of hudud at that time to reassure them to support Pakatan Rakyat in GE13.

“He then blamed MCA for his old video going viral, claiming that it was an attempt to divert attention from the current RUU355 issue,” said Liang.

“It seems that DAP politicians do not have to take responsibility for their actions, can say whatever they like and it is always someone else’s fault,” he said.
