Nasrun called on the people to support the government in its initiative to protect the state’s sovereignty. He said the Lahad Datu district, particularly Felda Sahabat, was safe with the presence of the base camp and the settlers’ wellbeing had improved.
“It is my hope that the people of Felda Sahabat will learn from such a tragedy and continue to strengthen unity.”
Nasrun handed aid to 30 Tanjung Labian villagers whose houses were destroyed during the intrusion.
Earlier, Sharifah said the 1Malaysia Community Commitee was set up to allow the people to engage the government and understand its policies.
“We can easily obtain news and information via social media. Hence, it is the role of the Information Department to go to the ground to channel (verified) information.”
She said there were 1,500 such committees in the country, three of which were in Bandar Lahad Datu, Kampung Jawa and Kampung Zon Segama here.
