BECKHAM NAMED AIA AMBASSADOR
He is a global sporting icon who is respected for his community and charity work, says group CEO
AIA Group Ltd, the largest independent public-listed panAsian life insurance group, recently announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with David Beckham as the company’s global ambassador.
In this newly created role, Beckham will support AIA in its goal of helping people in the Asia-Pacific region live longer, healthier, better lives.
“We are delighted to welcome Beckham as AIA’s Global Ambassador,” said AIA group chief executive and president Mark Tucker in a statement.
“He is a successful global sporting icon, committed family man and is respected for his longstanding community and charity work; most notably as a United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef) goodwill ambassador over the past 12 years,”
AIA group chief executive and president-designate Ng Keng Hooi said Beckham was a natural fit as AIA aimed to play a leadership role in the social and economic development of the communities it serves.
Beckham said joining the AIA family was an easy decision.
“I am a passionate believer in the value of wellness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and I share AIA’s commitment to encouraging people to take charge of their health.
“Throughout my career in elite sports, and in my role as a parent, I have always tried to be the best I can be by training hard and setting a positive example to those around me.
“I look forward to working closely with AIA and supporting its efforts to improve the quality of people’s lives across the AsiaPacific region,” said Beckham.
The new role was created following the launch of AIA Vitality, a science-backed wellness platform.
It provides members with the knowledge, tools and motivation to help them take achievable steps to meet health goals and bring about long-term positive behavioural change to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
AIA Vitality members are encouraged and incentivised to actively engage in health and wellness initiatives and activities by offering them enhanced benefits, including premium discounts, on their insurance policies and other rewards from third party providers.
