HE distinctiveness of Malaysian food has given an opportunity for Malaysia to become a world culinary tourism destination.

The diversity is a big draw for tourists, who also visit the country to shop, admire the culture and have a good time.

The global retail sale of Malaysian food products is expected to expand by 4.8 per cent to US$6.4 trillion (RM28.32 trillion) by 2020.

Looking at the nature of the hospitality industry, the emergence of culinary tourism has seen rapid growth. There will be a greater demand for experienced workers and professional services in hotels, food service and catering.

In line with the high demand and promising future in this field, Management & Science University (MSU) is offering Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma in Culinary Arts and Patisserie Arts, under its School of Hospitality and Creative Arts.

This programme provides students with the opportunity to transform their passion for cooking into a professional skill that will guide them into the exciting world of food preparation. It will also equip students with advanced skills in culinary arts and strong product knowledge, as well as the ability to perform and organise food production according to established international standards.

Students will be exposed to technical skills in kitchen setup and organisation, food product knowledge, patisserie, sensorial analysis, menu development and food and beverage management.

The programme offered along these areas meet the stringent standards set by the local or international bodies.

MSU’s award-winning home-grown programmes are among the best in the region. These programmes are meticulously crafted to noost the graduate’s worth.

The university aspires to provide education that will enhance employability of its graduates and at the same time, enrich the students learning experience with ethical and moral values.

The recognition of any institution of higher learning lies on the strength of its programmes and faculty members.

While ensuring the requirements of academically qualified faculty members are being met, MSU further fortifies its brand image through the deployment of international visiting professors and institutional collaborations.

As one of Malaysia’s best teaching and learning universities, MSU gives top priority to building both students and faculty.

MSU is engaging highly-qualified academics and international visiting professors, and blending global exposure with extensive industrial training and personal enrichment competency elements to deliver compelling learning experiences within a holistic curriculum that boosts graduates’ employability.

Global, collaborative, industry- and enterpriseembedded MSU offers initiatives in student mobility, leadership development and market immersion through programmes of global mobility (GMP), global leadership (GLP) and global internship (GIP) that empower graduates with wellrounded competency.

MSU graduates are popular among employers. A graduate tracer study by the Ministry of Higher Education shows 98.6 per cent of MSU graduates secure employment within six months of their graduation.

MSU was also accorded the “Excellent Status University” twice, on the national university-rating system SETARA, by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and The Most Entrepreneurial Private University 2016.

A recent rating, placing MSU on world-class standards, was the QS 2016 Rating, which awarded Five Stars to the university for its teaching, employability, facilities, social responsibility and inclusiveness.
