Sultan Ibrahim in driver’s seat for 16th time
JOHOR BARU: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, who obtained a Class 26 locomotive licence almost seven years ago, drove a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTM) train to the state capital here from Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
He left Kuala Lumpur in the sixcoach Tanjung Kupang 26108 train at 9.55am and arrived at JB Sentral at 3.45pm.
Sultan Ibrahim, who wore a green batik shirt, was accompanied by the royal family on the 296km journey.
The train made a stop in Segamat.
It was Sultan Ibrahim’s 16th trip as a locomotive driver. He obtained his licence on June 28, 2010.
He is the first ruler to obtain the licence, which was recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records. He also drove a train during the Kembara Mahkota Johor in 2010.
