GCH ups retail presence with new Giant mall in Kelantan
KOTA BARU: GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd’s 195,000-sq-ft Giant Tunjung Mall boasts 127 retailers under one roof.
Chief executive officer Pierre Olivier Deplanck said the outlet was the company’s 123rd in the country and second in Kelantan.
He said the first store here, which was opened in 2009, was more of a supermarket while this one was better equipped and had more facilities.
“Designed with consumers in mind, the mall is equipped with dining outlets, major fast-food chain restaurants as well as a big food court offering a wide selection of local delicacies.
“The mall has 57,000 sq ft of superstore space and is able to cater to more than 51,000 households within the area,” he said after the opening ceremony, here, yesterday.
Deplanck said as a leading mall in Malaysia, Giant served more than 2.3 million customers every week.
He said Giant was concerned about the rising cost of living and looking for ways to help keep shopping cost as low as possible.
“We are introducing our own house brand that offers quality food at affordable price, with no compromise on quality,” he said.
Deplanck said currently, there were more than 800 items under its brand with prices 30 to 40 per cent lower than those of the established brands.
“We hope to increase the items, especially household goods, in the near future,” he said. Sulaiman Jaafar
