GCH ups re­tail pres­ence with new Gi­ant mall in Ke­lan­tan

KOTA BARU: GCH Re­tail (M) Sdn Bhd’s 195,000-sq-ft Gi­ant Tun­jung Mall boasts 127 re­tail­ers un­der one roof.

Chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Pierre Olivier De­planck said the out­let was the com­pany’s 123rd in the coun­try and sec­ond in Ke­lan­tan.

He said the first store here, which was opened in 2009, was more of a su­per­mar­ket while this one was bet­ter equipped and had more fa­cil­i­ties.

“De­signed with con­sumers in mind, the mall is equipped with din­ing out­lets, ma­jor fast-food chain restau­rants as well as a big food court of­fer­ing a wide se­lec­tion of lo­cal del­i­ca­cies.

“The mall has 57,000 sq ft of su­per­store space and is able to cater to more than 51,000 house­holds within the area,” he said af­ter the open­ing cer­e­mony, here, yes­ter­day.

De­planck said as a lead­ing mall in Malaysia, Gi­ant served more than 2.3 mil­lion cus­tomers every week.

He said Gi­ant was con­cerned about the ris­ing cost of liv­ing and look­ing for ways to help keep shop­ping cost as low as pos­si­ble.

“We are in­tro­duc­ing our own house brand that of­fers qual­ity food at af­ford­able price, with no com­pro­mise on qual­ity,” he said.

De­planck said cur­rently, there were more than 800 items un­der its brand with prices 30 to 40 per cent lower than those of the es­tab­lished brands.
