Guards face rap af­ter in­mate dies of thirst

WASHINGTON: A United States jury on Mon­day rec­om­mended that seven jail em­ploy­ees be charged with cut­ting off wa­ter for seven days to an in­mate, who later died of de­hy­dra­tion. Ter­rill Thomas, 38, died last year in Mil­wau­kee County jail. Stun­ning de­tails emerged last week be­fore the jury in Mil­wau­kee, Wis­con­sin. Thomas was de­prived of wa­ter be­cause the guards wanted to pun­ish him for his be­hav­iour. The man was held for open­ing fire on a high­way and in a casino, in­jur­ing one per­son.
