ACTRESS RUHAINIES EAGER TO START FRESH

She keeps herself busy to move on from controversies,

New Straits Times - - Entertainment - TAHIR ALHAMZAH writes

THEY say bad publicity is good publicity. But, to young actress Ruhainies, who started acting less than a couple of years ago, she would prefer to avoid controversies.

Having experienced two controversies, the 24-year-old starlet said such publicity did not augur well for her.

In April last year, Ruhainies was reported to have had a tiff with fellow actress Janna Nick on social media, which also saw director Michael Ang’s name dragged into it.

Three months later, she found herself in a scandal involving singer Adira’s husband, Datuk Seri Adnan Abu, or Datuk Red.

And, just like that, Ruhainies, whose full name is Nur Ruhainies Farehah Zainul Ilyas, became the talk of local entertainment watchers, elevating her popularity further.

Not one to let an opportunity slip by, Ruhainies worked around her new-found fame and improved her acting chops.

Since then, the Kepala Batasborn, who is actress Nur Risteena Munim’s younger sister, has been getting many acting jobs.

“My focus is work. Since I am new, there’s so much to learn and improve. I have to put those controversies behind me.

“Keeping myself busy with work is the best way to move forward,” she said after the signing of an agreement between local beauty product Cantik Dara and production house Spektra Selasih Sdn Bhd at Restoran Rebung Chef Ismail in Taman Botani Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Under the agreement, Cantik Dara, founded by Nurrul Sayang Rahmat, will be sponsoring the promotion of Spektra Selasih’s upcoming film, Jibam, which is set for release in September.

Ruhainies, who is also the face of Cantik Dara’s cosmetics range, has just wrapped up filming an 11-episode television drama series, Menantu Bilal, to be aired on TV3 during Ramadan.

It also stars Chacha Maembong, Nazeera Sardi and Amar Asyraf.

She will soon act in drama series Jasmin, in which she plays the titular role.

The 13-episode drama, produced by Jalena Rejab for TV3, will see her play a woman who suffers when her fiance dies.

“I am expecting a lot of emotional scenes, something different from the roles I’ve played previously. There will be a lot of crying from me.”

In Jasmin, her leading man is Azrel Ismail, with whom she was reported to be romanticallylinked to.

This marks their second outing as onscreen couple, after last year’s TV3 drama, Menantu Ting Tong.

“We got to know each othon er the set of HyppTV’s 2015 drama, Si Montel, in which Azrel played the hero. We’ve been close friends ever since. Nothing more than that,” she insisted.

After Jasmin, Ruhainies will fly to Europe to film Zeel Production’s drama series, Kelip-kelip Kota London, and telemovie Cikgu Dina Pakai Prada Ke Paris (a sequel to last year’s comedy te lemovie, Cikgu Dina Pakai Prada).
