Chelsea to hand Thibaut Courtois a bumper new deal
LONDON: Thibaut Courtois is heading for a bumper new Chelsea contract as Real Madrid cool their interest in the Belgian.
The Spanish giants are longterm admirers of the keeper, and Chelsea feared that Bernabeu chiefs would move for Courtois this summer.
But while Real are still in the market for a new shot-stopper, they are prioritising Spain and Manchester United keeper David de Gea.
Chelsea will look to extend Courtois’ contract, which expires in 2019, with a substantial increase to his £120,000 (RM660,000)-a-week wages.
The Blues are also trying to hang on to defender Andreas Christensen.
Borussia Monchengladbach, where the 21-year-old is on loan, are keen to sign him permanently, but Chelsea want the Denmark international to develop at Stamford Bridge. Daily Mail
