MANY young Cam­bo­di­ans make their life-chang­ing jour­ney by join­ing Phare Pon­leu Sel­pak’s Cir­cus School in Bat­tam­bang, the sec­ond big­gest city, after Siem Reap, in the coun­try’s north­west­ern re­gion.

Sam­nang Heng, 24, is one of the suc­cess­ful cir­cus per­form­ers who after 10 years is now await­ing his new house to be com­pleted, hav­ing paid for it from the money he earned from cir­cus per­for­mances.
