BRUSSELS: European Parliament President Antonio Tajani yesterday dismissed a claim by British Prime Minister Theresa May that the EU was trying to influence the outcome of next month’s election in Britain. “No one is trying to influence the outcome of the election campaign... It is neither an attack or a bad word to say being a member of the EU is not the same as being outside the EU,” Tajani said. May accused Brussels of “threats against Britain” over Brexit talks, as the two sides traded blows over terms of the country’s divorce.
