Bank Rakyat launches Barakah app
KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Rakyat has introduced an Islam-centric and non-commercial app called Barakah which features Quranic verses, zakat rates and other information.
Its public relations and corporate branding manager Nizam Abu Samah said the free app in Bahasa Malaysia was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
He said Barakah, available from today, was expected to see 50,000 downloads by the end of the year.
He said the app’s first phase included capabilities like locating the nearest mosque. The second phase will have more features such as listings of halal restaurants overseas and e-books.
“Future phases will include haj and umrah guides,” said Nizam during a visit to New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd yesterday.
