CHEF HURT IN EATERY BLAST
Probe shows gas leak caused explosion
ACHEF was injured in an explosion at a restaurant serving Arab food in Section 13 here yesterday morning. The 9.30am incident at Munif Hijjaz Asraar Hadramawt Restaurant in Jalan Lompat Tinggi 13/33 also saw the premises’ front door badly damaged.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer Mohd Hissam Sidik said investigations revealed that the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
“We received a call on the incident at 9.34am. We dispatched a team of 16 firemen and three paramedics.
“Upon arrival, the firemen were told that a 27-year-old chef, whom the restaurant workers call ‘Chef Mohamed’, injured his hands.
“He was rushed to the hospital by the restaurant manager,” he said.
Hissam said firemen then carried out an overhaul operation, and an investigation has been launched by the department’s Forensic Unit.
The explosion damaged the kitchen as well as the front door of the restaurant in Shah Alam yesterday.
