CHEF HURT IN EATERY BLAST

Probe shows gas leak caused ex­plo­sion

ACHEF was in­jured in an ex­plo­sion at a restau­rant serv­ing Arab food in Sec­tion 13 here yes­ter­day morn­ing. The 9.30am in­ci­dent at Mu­nif Hi­j­jaz As­raar Hadra­mawt Restau­rant in Jalan Lom­pat Tinggi 13/33 also saw the premises’ front door badly dam­aged.

Se­lan­gor Fire and Res­cue Depart­ment op­er­a­tions cen­tre of­fi­cer Mohd His­sam Sidik said in­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that the ex­plo­sion was caused by a gas leak.

“We re­ceived a call on the in­ci­dent at 9.34am. We dis­patched a team of 16 fire­men and three paramedics.

“Upon ar­rival, the fire­men were told that a 27-year-old chef, whom the restau­rant work­ers call ‘Chef Mo­hamed’, in­jured his hands.

“He was rushed to the hospi­tal by the restau­rant man­ager,” he said.

His­sam said fire­men then car­ried out an over­haul oper­a­tion, and an in­ves­ti­ga­tion has been launched by the depart­ment’s Foren­sic Unit.
