Bernama launches com­mem­o­ra­tive stamps

KUALA LUMPUR: Bernama gen­eral man­ager Datuk Zulke­fli Salleh along­side its editor-inchief Datuk Zakaria Ab­dul Wa­hab launched com­mem­o­ra­tive stamps at the agency’s head­quar­ters here yes­ter­day to mark its golden ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tions. Bernama, or the Malaysian Na­tional News Agency be­gan oper­a­tions in a bun­ga­low with some 20 staff in 1967 and to­day op­er­ates from its head­quar­ters off Jalan Tun Razak with more than 1,000 staff.

The agency has planned a Golden Ju­bilee Ap­pre­ci­a­tion din­ner on May 22 as a to­ken for its clients, staff and for­mer em­ploy­ees. In­vi­ta­tions to Deputy Prime Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Dr Ah­mad Zahid Hamidi and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions and Mul­ti­me­dia Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak were sent out with the newly minted stamps af­ter its launch. The stamps, which are sold in sheets of 20 are avail­able and priced at RM30 at its head­quar­ters.
