4As ap­points Lee as pres­i­dent and Cowie as vice-pres­i­dent

KUALA LUMPUR: The As­so­ci­a­tion of Ac­cred­ited Advertising Agents (4As) of Malaysia has ap­pointed An­drew Lee as its new pres­i­dent.

Lee, the manag­ing direc­tor of Havas World­wide Kuala Lumpur, pre­vi­ously served for two years as 4As vice-pres­i­dent.

Aaron Cowie, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of TBWA Kuala Lumpur, was elected as the vice-pres­i­dent.

Lee said his mis­sion was to safe­guard the busi­ness and cre­ative in­ter­ests of the 4As mem­bers through mem­ber­ship drive, ed­u­ca­tional opportunities and wider col­lab­o­ra­tions with me­dia part­ners and pro­fes­sional agen­cies.

“These in­clude the Me­dia Spe­cial­ists As­so­ci­a­tion, Malaysian Ad­ver­tis­ers As­so­ci­a­tion, Malaysian Dig­i­tal As­so­ci­a­tion, Malaysian News­pa­per Pub­lish­ers As­so­ci­a­tion and Malaysian As­so­ci­a­tion of Advertising Film­mak­ers,” he said.

Apart from ex­ist­ing out­reach pro­grammes with ter­tiary ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­grammes, Lee said 4As would con­tinue to work closely with the United King­dom-based In­sti­tute for Prac­ti­tion­ers of Advertising to arm advertising prac­ti­tion­ers with up­dated in­dus­try knowl­edge, new skill sets and tools.

“We have al­lo­cated RM50,000 worth of schol­ar­ships for full­time em­ploy­ees of 4As mem­ber agen­cies as part of our com­mit­ment to raise in­dus­try stan­dards and pro­fes­sion­al­ism by fos­ter­ing con­tin­u­ous pro­fes­sional de­vel­op­ment,” he said.

Cowie said the new coun­cil would im­ple­ment im­prove­ments to the ex­ist­ing ini­tia­tives where nec­es­sary to re-en­er­gise the in­dus­try to be more vi­brant.
