4As appoints Lee as president and Cowie as vice-president
KUALA LUMPUR: The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (4As) of Malaysia has appointed Andrew Lee as its new president.
Lee, the managing director of Havas Worldwide Kuala Lumpur, previously served for two years as 4As vice-president.
Aaron Cowie, chief executive officer of TBWA Kuala Lumpur, was elected as the vice-president.
Lee said his mission was to safeguard the business and creative interests of the 4As members through membership drive, educational opportunities and wider collaborations with media partners and professional agencies.
“These include the Media Specialists Association, Malaysian Advertisers Association, Malaysian Digital Association, Malaysian Newspaper Publishers Association and Malaysian Association of Advertising Filmmakers,” he said.
Apart from existing outreach programmes with tertiary educational institutions and certification programmes, Lee said 4As would continue to work closely with the United Kingdom-based Institute for Practitioners of Advertising to arm advertising practitioners with updated industry knowledge, new skill sets and tools.
“We have allocated RM50,000 worth of scholarships for fulltime employees of 4As member agencies as part of our commitment to raise industry standards and professionalism by fostering continuous professional development,” he said.
Cowie said the new council would implement improvements to the existing initiatives where necessary to re-energise the industry to be more vibrant.
