Stag­ger­ing cost of United’s over­haul

MANCH­ESTER: The as­tro­nom­i­cal fig­ures paid by Manch­ester United to sign Zla­tan Ibrahi­movic and Paul Pogba last summer have been re­vealed.

United are set to fin­ish out­side the Pre­mier League’s top four de­spite cap­tur­ing two of the big­gest names in foot­ball on jaw-drop­ping con­tracts, ne­go­ti­ated by agent Mino Raiola.

Ibrahi­movic is the best-paid player in the Pre­mier League on £367,640 (RM2 mil­lion) a week, to­talling just over £19 mil­lion a year. He is also due £2.86 mil­lion in goal bonuses.

Pogba earns a ba­sic wage of £8.61 mil­lion, equat­ing to £165,588 a week, and will re­ceive an an­nual loy­alty bonus in ex­cess of £3.4 mil­lion from next year.

As­ton­ish­ing de­tails of the con­tracts agreed be­tween United and Raiola for Ibrahi­movic are re­vealed in a book to be pub­lished in Ger­many to­mor­row.

It has also emerged that Raiola will be paid over £41 mil­lion af­ter bring­ing Pogba to United from Ju­ven­tus for a world record £89 mil­lion trans­fer fee.
