Ro­has-Euco bags US$70m job

KUALA LUMPUR: Laos state com­pany Elec­tricite du Lao yes­ter­day awarded Ro­has Tec­nic Bhd’s (RTB) unit, Ro­has-Euco In­dus­tries Bhd (REI), a US$70 mil­lion (RM303.8 mil­lion) con­tract to sup­ply and con­struct trans­mis­sion lines, sub­sta­tions and dis­tri­bu­tion lines in the coun­try.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, REI chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Leong Wai Yuan said works would start in the sec­ond half and be com­pleted in 24 months.

The pro­ject will not have any ma­te­rial im­pact on RTB’s gear­ing and is ex­pected to con­trib­ute to the group’s prof­itabil­ity in the cur­rent year.

“This will be our sec­ond pro­ject in Laos, hav­ing com­pleted the first in 2014,” he said.

“The track record earned in the pre­vi­ous pro­ject with timely ex­e­cu­tion and good work qual­ity pro­vided the con­fi­dence in the Lao­tian au­thor­i­ties to grant us another one,” he added.

REI is Malaysia’s largest pro­ducer of lat­tice and mono­pole tow­ers. Ooi Tee Ching
