Rohas-Euco bags US$70m job
KUALA LUMPUR: Laos state company Electricite du Lao yesterday awarded Rohas Tecnic Bhd’s (RTB) unit, Rohas-Euco Industries Bhd (REI), a US$70 million (RM303.8 million) contract to supply and construct transmission lines, substations and distribution lines in the country.
In a statement yesterday, REI chief executive officer Leong Wai Yuan said works would start in the second half and be completed in 24 months.
The project will not have any material impact on RTB’s gearing and is expected to contribute to the group’s profitability in the current year.
“This will be our second project in Laos, having completed the first in 2014,” he said.
“The track record earned in the previous project with timely execution and good work quality provided the confidence in the Laotian authorities to grant us another one,” he added.
