Manage allergies with essential fatty acids

New Straits Times - - Heal - Nadia_badarudin@nst.com.my

ESSENTIAL fatty acids (EFAs) are crucial for our body to function — right from development of cell membranes and functioning of the brain and nervous system to the maintenance of healthy hair and skin.

Research shows that consumption of EFAs such as gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) can help people with allergies.

The right amount of GLA and EPA can inhibit the production of leukotrienes, which are inflammatory agents that trigger symptoms of asthma and allergies.

However, depending on EFA-rich food sources alone may not be sufficient to get the most nutrients and suit your need.

Efficas Care is a supplement specially formulated with precise and effective concentrations and ratios of dietary fatty acids which are important to our health, says Triniaire director Fong Yee Mei.

“Dietary GLA is the key ingredient in Efficas Care. The product contains the right ratio of borage oil and fish oil (from anchovies and sardines) which does not only offer the general benefits of fatty acids, but is also clinically proven in reducing the production of leukotrines,” says Fong.

She says it will require 17 one-gramme capsules of fish oil to get the equivalent amounts of LA and EPA provided by a single tablespoon of Efficas Care.

“For adults, daily consumption of a tablespoon (15ml) of Efficas Care is enough to maintain good health.

”The orangeflavoured product is in emulsified form, making it easier and convenient for consumption especially for children,” she adds.

Efficas Care is an American/Canadian product and is distributed by Triniaire. Health supplement Efficas Care can help improve one’s wellness in the long run.
