Uphold integrity in developing state, says ruler
ARAU: Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail yesterday called on the state leadership and the public sector to uphold integrity in developing the state through high-impact projects.
In the investiture ceremony for his 74th birthday, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said he was satisfied with the state’s progress in achieving the Perlis City State’s Vision 2030, in line with the National Transformation (TN50) agenda.
Citing the Chuping Valley Industrial Area, Kangar Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), Kuala Perlis mixed development project and the Kangar City Centre as examples, he commended the highimpact projects as proactive initiatives in drawing more investors and visitors to Perlis.
“I believe once the development initiatives are completed, it will benefit the people.
“Civil servants play an important role in expediting the development process, where all decisions made have to be followed up and followed through to ensure swift and effective actions are taken.”
He reminded the people to be wary of certain quarters who were out to disrupt the state’s peace and harmony.
He said unity and harmony among the people was key to creating a conducive environment for state development.
He said the same applied to politics and religion, where everyone should understand and respect each other’s beliefs to safeguard the nation’s peace and harmony.
Earlier, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin conferred the state’s highest award, Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perlis, which carries the “Datuk Seri” title on Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa and Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
They were among 282 recipients of honorary awards and medals in conjunction with Raja of Perlis 74th birthday.
