It now in­cludes two brand new out­lets — Oys­ter Seafood Bar by Mer­cato and Mer­cato Cafe.

CEO Pierre-Olivier of GCH Re­tail (M), the par­ent com­pany of Mer­cato, led the me­dia on a tour of the store, stop­ping at the var­i­ous coun­ters to ex­plain unique fea­tures.

Among the high­lights were food pro­duce, in­clud­ing a Taste Of Asia range with some 600 items from across Asian coun­tries. There was also an im­pres­sive ar­ray of baklava and dates from the Mid­dle East.

Celebrity chef Celina Khor demon­strated how simple it was to pre­pare a steak with mush­room sauce us­ing in­gre­di­ents from the store which had ex­panded the space for fresh pro­duce with 35 per cent new prod­ucts not avail­able else­where in the coun­try, in­clud­ing over 100 types of cheeses.
