MODENAS LAUNCHES 3 NEW MOD­ELS

DRB-HICOM Group’s Mo­to­sikal dan En­jin Na­sional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) aims to set the streets on fire with the much-an­tic­i­pated launch of three new street bikes made lo­cally in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Ba­jaj Auto Ltd .

In­dia’s Ba­jaj is the world’s fourth­largest three and two-wheeler man­u­fac­turer.

The Modenas Pul­sar RS200, NS200 and V15 not only boast of the lat­est tech­nol­ogy from the In­dian giant but also ush­ers in a to­tally new mar­ket seg­ment for Modenas.

“We are ex­tremely happy with this lat­est col­lab­o­ra­tion with Ba­jaj as it has given us the op­por­tu­nity to pen­e­trate a fresh seg­ment that is boom­ing and will con­tinue to grow stronger in years to come” said Datuk Ab­dul Harith Ab­dul­lah, DRB-HICOM’s chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer for au­to­mo­tive dis­tri­bu­tion and man­u­fac­tur­ing and en­gi­neer­ing.

Ba­jaj cur­rently pro­duces four mil­lion mo­tor­cy­cles annually and ex­ports more than 1.5 mil­lion units to more than 75 coun­tries, in which it holds lead­er­ship po­si­tion in around 20. The Ba­jaj brand is well-known across sev­eral coun­tries in Latin Amer­ica, Africa, Mid­dle East, South and South­east Asia.

Harith said the col­lab­o­ra­tion with Ba­jaj was a nat­u­ral phase for Modenas as one of the largest mo­tor­cy­cle man­u­fac­tur­ers in the re­gion. The Malaysian com­pany is well known for its dif­fer­en­ti­ated prod­uct lines, in­no­va­tive R&D team and rig­or­ous prod­uct test­ing.

The Pul­sar RS200 and NS200 fea­ture Ba­jaj’s most ad­vanced patented triple spark 4 Valve 200cc (dig­i­tal triple spark ig­ni­tion) DTS-I en­gine, sup­ported by an ef­fi­cient fuel in­jec­tion de­liv­ery sys­tem to pro­vide the right surge of power and en­hanced fuel ef­fi­ciency.

“We are happy to be able to bring these tech­nolo­gies to Malaysia,” said Sharma.

The Pul­sar RS200 and NS200 are pow­ered by a 199cc, SOHC, liq­uid cooled, sin­gle cylin­der fuel in­jec­tion en­gine. With a six-speed trans­mis­sion, the bikes boast 24hp at 9500 rpm and 18.6 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm re­spec­tively.

Modenas is wel­com­ing street bike en­thu­si­asts to test ride the newly launched ma­chines at the DRB-HICOM Aut­ofest 2017, be­ing held at the EON Com­plex in Glen­marie Shah Alam. The event ends to­day. De­signed with an ag­gres­sive and mean look­ing front fair­ing all the way to the tail, the sports bike is equipped with sin­gle chan­nel Anti-Lock Brak­ing Sys­tem (ABS)

The sus­pen­sion for the front end of the RS200 is equipped with a tele­scopic fork with anti-fric­tion bush while the rear is a Nitrox mono-shock ab­sorber with can­is­ter.

The 2017 Modenas Pul­sar RS200 is priced at RM10,700 with­out the Goods and Ser­vices Tax (GST) and is avail­able in ei­ther Black or Blue.

For those who fancy a naked ver­sion of the Pul­sar, the NS200 has been crafted per­fectly. Pul­sar RS200 and NS200 share the same sus­pen­sion with front tele­scopic fork and rear Nitrox mono shock ab­sorber.

As for the Modenas V15, also dubbed The In­vin­ci­ble (or “Gen­erasi Ken­tal”), it is catered for riders who have a neo clas­si­cal taste for styling.

The 150cc dig­i­tal twin-spark pow­ered mo­tor­cy­cle pro­vides an ad­e­quate amount of power with 12hp at 7,500rpm and 13Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.

The all new V15 is priced at RM5,650 with­out GST and comes in ei­ther Black or White (both with red ac­cents).
