Seven, in­clud­ing es­tranged hus­band of wo­man, held over at­tack

A25-YEAR-OLD man was beaten and scalded with hot wa­ter on Satur­day by a group of men for al­legedly hav­ing an af­fair with a wo­man cur­rently in the process of get­ting a di­vorce.

The vic­tim suf­fered sec­ond de­gree burns to the back, shoul­ders and neck as a re­sult of be­ing doused with hot wa­ter, and in­juries to the face and body from the 1am as­sault in Kam­pung Paya Jaras Hilir.

Fol­low­ing the at­tack, po­lice ar­rested seven men, in­clud­ing the es­tranged hus­band of the wo­man with whom the vic­tim was al­leged to have been hav­ing the af­fair.

Dis­trict po­lice chief Su­per­in­ten­dent S. Somu said po­lice were alerted by the vic­tim’s fa­ther.

“The fa­ther said his son had con­tacted him, claim­ing he was at­tacked by a group of peo­ple.

“He then went to the scene and found the vic­tim ly­ing on the ground, sur­rounded by a group of men. He was beaten up and doused with hot wa­ter.

“He was rushed to Sun­gai Bu­loh Hos­pi­tal by his fa­ther,” Somu said.

It was un­der­stood that the man was at­tacked by be­tween 10 and 15 men.

“So far, seven sus­pects be­lieved to have been part of the group of as­sailants have been ar­rested, in­clud­ing the hus­band of the wo­man al­legedly in a re­la­tion­ship with the vic­tim.

“The vic­tim is be­ing treated at Sun­gai Bu­loh Hos­pi­tal and is re­ported to be in sta­ble con­di­tion,” said Somu.

He added that those with in­for­ma­tion on the in­ci­dent should con­tact the Sun­gai Bu­loh po­lice head­quar­ters.

The vic­tim suf­fered sec­ond de­gree burns to his back, shoul­ders and neck.
