Seven, including estranged husband of woman, held over attack
A25-YEAR-OLD man was beaten and scalded with hot water on Saturday by a group of men for allegedly having an affair with a woman currently in the process of getting a divorce.
The victim suffered second degree burns to the back, shoulders and neck as a result of being doused with hot water, and injuries to the face and body from the 1am assault in Kampung Paya Jaras Hilir.
Following the attack, police arrested seven men, including the estranged husband of the woman with whom the victim was alleged to have been having the affair.
District police chief Superintendent S. Somu said police were alerted by the victim’s father.
“The father said his son had contacted him, claiming he was attacked by a group of people.
“He then went to the scene and found the victim lying on the ground, surrounded by a group of men. He was beaten up and doused with hot water.
“He was rushed to Sungai Buloh Hospital by his father,” Somu said.
It was understood that the man was attacked by between 10 and 15 men.
“So far, seven suspects believed to have been part of the group of assailants have been arrested, including the husband of the woman allegedly in a relationship with the victim.
“The victim is being treated at Sungai Buloh Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition,” said Somu.
He added that those with information on the incident should contact the Sungai Buloh police headquarters.
