Mil­lionth Myvi mile­stone this month

KUALA LUMPUR: Perusa­haan Oto­mo­bil Ke­dua Sdn Bhd (Pero­dua) an­nounced that the Pero­dua Myvi is near­ing its one mil­lionth pro­duc­tion unit, mak­ing it the most pro­duced Malaysian ve­hi­cle in his­tory.

The Myvi, which was in­tro­duced in May 2005, was Malaysia’s No. 1 car model un­til the end of 2014. It con­tin­ues to be among the top best-sell­ing mod­els in the coun­try.

“So far, we have pro­duced nearly one mil­lion Myvis since 2005. That mile­stone will be reached some­time this month,” said Pero­dua pres­i­dent and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Datuk Ami­nar Rashid Salleh in a state­ment yes­ter­day.

He said since 2006, the Myvi had been sold in coun­tries such as Sri Lanka, Mau­ri­tius, Brunei, Sin­ga­pore, the United King­dom, Fiji and Nepal un­der un­der the Pero­dua brand.

Its big­gest ex­port mar­ket is In­done­sia un­der the Dai­hatsu Sirion brand, with nearly 31,000 ve­hi­cles sold since 2007.

In to­tal, Pero­dua has ex­ported 35,400 Myvi/Sirion mod­els since 2006 in these mar­kets.

“We’re happy as well as hum­bled by the trust given by Malaysians to our brand. We will con­tinue to of­fer our best in terms of value and ser­vices to all Malaysians,” said Ami­nar.
