Pas info chief: Anwar distorted facts

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas has criticised jailed opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his “distortion of facts” in a speech made during PKR’s national congress on Sunday.

Its information chief, Nasrudin Hassan, questioned how Anwar “failed” to obtain accurate information about Pas, saying Anwar must learn to tell the difference between perception and reality.

“Either his political readings towards Pas do not represent reality, or PKR leaders had failed to provide him with accurate information and only relayed perception from their own mouths,” he said yesterday.

In the statement, Nasruddin quoted the speech read by Anwar’s daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar: “They (PAS) did not oppose the GST budget, the rise in fuel and sugar prices and did not participate in the Bersih 5 rally.”

Several media reports, Nasrudin added, also quoted Anwar saying that Pas had an alliance with Umno, after ending its tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) with PKR.

“Those allegations are clearly untrue and far from reality. In the GST issue, Pas had been consistent in voicing out against its implementation.”
