Porto part ways with coach Nuno

LIS­BON: FC Porto, with­out a tro­phy in four sea­sons, on Mon­day parted ways with coach Nuno Espir­ito Santo, ap­pointed in June 2016 at the end of another dis­ap­point­ing cam­paign.

The north­ern Por­tu­gal team, who won nine league ti­tles be­tween 2003-13 as well as en­joy­ing Euro­pean suc­cess in win­ning the 2004 Cham­pi­ons League and two UEFA Cup/Europa League tro­phies, said they had come to a mu­tual agree­ment with the Por­tuguese coach, a 43year-old former goal­keeper at the club.

Nuno ended his play­ing ca­reer in 2010 be­fore tak­ing up his first coach­ing post at Rio Ave. AFP
