WRONGLY CHARGED FOR DATA USE
A PENSIONER, who is staying alone, was shocked to see his mobile phone bill shoot up within 30 minutes recently.
Upon checking, TARUN learned that an additional RM209 was charged for data usage between midnight and 12.30am.
“I have not subscribed to any data plan nor do I use a data plan,” he said, adding that he was sleeping alone during the period.
TARUN said within half an hour, he was wrongly charged for a data plan that he did not even subscribe to.
“How could they charge me that much within 30 minutes? There is no one else living in my house.”
TARUN told Actionline that although he tried explaining to the service provider, they insisted that he settled the amount in full.
“This is daylight robbery since I have not even touched my phone.
“I am a senior citizen and a pensioner.
“I cannot afford to pay such a large amount. Besides, I did not use the phone,” he asserted. When contacted, TARUN said the amount had been refunded.
“Immediately after the matter was brought to the attention of Actionline, the total amount was credited into my account,” he said.
The service provider thanked TARUN and Actionline, and said the matter had been resolved.
“The company has taken the necessary steps to resolve the matter and has informed the customer accordingly,” it said.
