POLICE have obtained DNA samples and recorded statements from the foster father of the 13-year-old girl who had lodged a report saying he had been raping her for years.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Kamaluddin Kassim said the 45-year-old man, who was remanded for seven days from May 22, was being investigated for rape.

“We have, thus far, completed 80 per cent of our investigation,” he said.

Kamaluddin declined to divulge initial findings of the investigation.

It was reported on May 22 that the teen had walked 5.1km from her foster home to the Merlimau police station to lodge a report.

She claimed that her foster father had been raping her since she was 9, and that he had allegedly raped her at 4.45am on Sunday.

The foster father, an eatery operator, was arrested at his house in Jasin the same day, following the report which was lodged on Sunday.

However, the foster mother told state Welfare Department officers on Tuesday that the girl may have made up the claims.

She had said it would have been impossible for the rape to have taken place as there were other family members at home at the time, though she herself was away at a course in Johor Baru.
