Duo told to enter defence over misuse of hospital property
SHAH ALAM: An army pathologist and a lab technologist were yesterday ordered by the Sessions Court to enter their defence on charges of misusing property belonging to Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mirzan (MATTM) without the hospital’s knowledge.
Judge Slamat Yahya ruled that the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against both men.
Dr R. Kunaseegaran, 54, faces six charges of misusing the hospital’s property, and Yazid Lamin, 46, faces three charges of abetting the former.
In ordering the men to enter their defence, Slamat also said although there were some contradictions, evidence showed that three items of equipment were brought out of the hospital.
Dr Kunaseegaran was charged with using equipment belonging to MATTM, including a Microtome, Microtome Rotary System and Circular Paraffin Floating Bath.
The offences were allegedly committed at No. 23 and No. 26, Empire Gallery, Jalan Empayar through Jalan Sultan Ibrahim, Klang, near here, in June 2010 and April 2012.
A total of 23 prosecution witnesses testified.
Dr Kunaseegaran and Yazid were represented by Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent, while deputy public prosecutor Mohammed Heikal Ismail represented the prosecution.
