Guide­book de­fines maids’ rights and em­ploy­ers’ re­spon­si­bil­i­ties

PUTRAJAYA: A guide­book on em­ploy­ment of for­eign maids was de­scribed as an im­por­tant in­stru­ment in ad­vo­cat­ing the rights of do­mes­tic work­ers and defin­ing the re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of em­ploy­ers.

Ti­tled Guide­lines and Tips for Em­ploy­ers of For­eign Do­mes­tic Helpers, the guide­book was pre­pared by the Hu­man Re­sources Min­istry and the In­ter­na­tional Labour Or­gan­i­sa­tion.

Malaysian Maid Em­ploy­ers As­so­ci­a­tion pres­i­dent Engku Ahmad Fauzi Engku Muh­sein wel­comed the launch.

Malaysian As­so­ci­a­tion of For­eign Maid Agen­cies sec­re­tary­gen­eral Lee Cheng Ang said the guide would ben­e­fit both em­ploy­ers and maids.

The free guide­book is avail­able on the min­istry’s and De­part­ment of Labour’s web­sites.
