Ibrahimovic steals the show at the ‘Zlatan Arena’
STOCKHOLM: Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have been unable to join his Manchester United teammates on the pitch in their Europa League final against Ajax, but his mere presence at the Friends Arena was enough to steal the show.
The striker arrived in style as a member of staff saved him the hobble and drove him to the tunnel in a golf buggy.
Ibrahimovic was later seen pitchside along with fellow injured Manchester United stars Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo. Notably, he appeared to be the only one not wearing a team suit, opting for casual clothes instead.
Being the stadium he played in for Sweden — and the venue where he scored one of the alltime great goals against England — he aptly called it the ‘Zlatan Arena’ when announcing his presence on social media.
Finally being told to put a United tracksuit top on, Ibrahimovic made it clear he was supporting the Red Devils and not his former club Ajax, with whom he spent three seasons between 2001 and 2004.
With Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scoring the winning goals, Ibrahimovic was then able to walk onto the pitch and celebrate with his teammates as they lifted their third trophy of the campaign. Daily Mail
