9 THE KING’S SPEECH (2010)
Bonham Carter plays Elizabeth, Duchess of York, who would later become Queen Elizabeth, in this Tom Hooper-directed historical drama. It follows the Duke of York, the future King George VI, who engages the services of an Australian speech and language therapist to overcome his debilitating stammer.
Since Bonham Carter was also filming Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 and 2 in 2010 and 2011), the production had to be reworked around her schedule. She won a Bafta for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for an Oscar in the same category.
